Rev. Dr. Larry Merino, Executive Director

Rev. Dr. Larry Merino graduated in 1992 with a Masters of Divinity Degree from Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana and received his Ph.D. in missiology from C.T.S. in 2005. He served as Senior Pastor of New Life Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne from 1992-2005.

Dr. Merino is a consultant to Archbishop Janis Vanags of the Latvia Lutheran Church for mission outreach to the Gypsies in Latvia. He is also a missionary to the Gypsy (Roma) people around the world. He has traveled frequently to Slovakia, Latvia, and throughout the United States, especially to California, to share his faith and to consult with church leaders on reaching the Gypsy people with the promise of salvation and eternal life through Jesus Christ.

The solid theological foundations that can strengthen cross-cultural mission work are well within the grasp of the laity. HMI uses a Lutheran perspective to show the person who has a “heart” for missions how to get the “head” for missions as well by recalling familiar teachings of the church. Dr. Merino currently serves as Associate Pastor of
Outreach at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne, and is the Executive Director of Harvest Mission International, Inc., a not-for-profit 501(c)3 mission agency organized in 2004. Harvest Mission International, Inc. is a member of the Association of Lutheran Mission Agencies (ALMA) and is dedicated to equipping churches for mission outreach.
